What is the average cost of custom logo design?
Congrats! You’ve made the decision to chase your dream and start the business you’ve been conceptualizing for months, maybe years. You’ve probably established your business plan and taken a few of the first steps to making this dream a reality.
One of the most exciting parts of starting a business is the logo design and branding phase (ok, maybe I'm a little biased).
Thinking about that special touch that having your very own custom logo will add to your business... That stamp of professionalism... That graphic mark and typography that will visually represent your business. It’s fun and exciting. But also highly complex and very involved — psychologically and skillfully.
Our brains process visuals 60x faster than text and 90% of the info that comes to the brain is visual.
Your business MUST have a strong, effective logo.
Maybe you’ve started to do some research into the average cost of having a logo custom designed. You’ve probably received quotes ranging from $200-$5,000. Whaaat!? Some might even range up to $10,000. Why is this range so large? What could possibly be the difference between a $200 logo and a $1,500 logo?
Let’s figure it out…
Logo designers vary greatly in many areas: skills, experience, and their ability to connect and truly understand your business goals and target market. They also vary greatly in their design process, the amount of initial mockups you’ll see, the amount of revisions you’ll receive, the types of final assets you’ll receive, and more. Some logo designers leave you to your own devices to roll out the brand once you’ve approved the final logo, some take great pride in becoming an integral part of your business and work with you to effectively roll out your new brand in a full-serviced marketing campaign after the logo is approved. Some are college students who have small portfolios, some are freelancers who have more experience, some are employed by agencies where the entire team is involved in the creative process.
To help provide some clarity, I’ve created a chart, which delineates some of the various bells and whistles you may receive at different pricing levels for logo designs. Keep in mind that a designer's experience and skill level is also reflected in their cost, but this chart is a good place to start.
